You might want to try the old mechanics audio trick to track down where the "clicking" noise is actually coming from.
Trick is rather simple really - after starting the engine,take a long handled heavy screw driver - press the blade against the area where you think the noise is originating from and put your ear against the end of the handle -
You will be startled at the mechanical noise you can hear from your engine - and by moving the screwdriver blade to different locations on the cylinder you can isolate exactly where the strange (and usually either annoying or expensive) noise is coming from.
